Root of Soul: J19th Fest
June 11, 2022 (Part of The Lowcountry Juneteenth Experience: June 11th – 19th, 2022)
Root of Soul Festival hopes to deliver three things to impact the African American community in the Lowcountry of Charleston, SC. One, to celebrate the communal pride and growing awareness of the Juneteenth holiday. Two, to highlight and expose the rich cultural and historic African American history and businesses in the greater Charleston area. And three, to create an economic engine utilizing dollars from the festival to fund local nonprofits and initiatives for critical empowerment and community development work. The festival targeted national recording artists to create a regionally attractive event that included concerts, educational forums, poetry slam, vendors and a kid’s zone.
